Ok kiddies, Stereofly is putting together an awesome SouthEast showcase at SXSW in Austin, TX. There is a kickstarter for this event that will help pay for 30 + acts to go out to Austin and show what the Southeast has to offer. There are bands that are Metal, Folk, Blues-rock, Rap, etc. But I digress. You should go to this link, check out the kickstarter and donate if you have the means. Oh, I forgot to mention, when you donate, you get great MUSIC from the artists involved. If you make a generation contribution of $100, you get a great package of 30 albums. That is a great deal you can’t even get on record store day. But PLEASE go check this out, donate if you can and like always, support local music. -MJM

It’s Wednesday night in Fountain Inn at Jake Garrett’s house. Fats Domino is playing on vinyl in the back ground, the air is thick with smoke, and everyone’s glass is filled with whiskey. This is an average Wednesday night for Mason Jar Menagerie before band practice. Members Jake Garrett (lead vocals and guitar), Susan Garrett (drums and vocals), and Ameer Raja (bass and vocals) let me sit down with them and ask all about the band.
